Órlaith

We are delighted to announce the arrival of Orla (or Órlaith in Irish as she will be on her passport) Kathleen (after Paul’s mom, also known in family circles as Goose, but we thought that was pushing it a little bit far!) Sherlock, born just before midnight on Monday the 9^th of April. She made us wait a few days extra – she was due on the 1^st, but she is no fool; she thought she would wait until we had the Easter break over and that she could enjoy the chocolate eggs via mummy. Thoughtful already.

The wait was worth it as Órlaith came in at a healthy 3.7 kgs or for those of us still stuck in imperial ways, that is about 8.1 lbs. Like Eva, Órlaith was born under water and we hope that she will also grow to have Eva’s love of swimming. Eva came up to see her baby sister yesterday and thought she was fascinating and was surprised that she is a little bit bigger than her favourite dolly who up until now has been her benchmark for babies. The beginning of a great relationship, no doubt. Goose… I mean Kathleen (the big one) has been looking after Eva when Paul is at the hospital with mom and baby. Hopefully Órlaith and Ellen will get home on Friday, in time for her first Dutch visitors.

Órlaith

Eindelijk is ze er: Órlaith (uitgesproken als ‘Orla’) Kathleen (vernoemd naar Paul’s moeder) Sherlock werd geboren op maandag 9 April. We hadden haar iets eerder verwacht, maar ze is het wachten waard; we woog 3.7 kg en is 52 cm lang. Ze werd vlak voor middennacht geboren, net nog op 2^e Paasdag.

Net zoals Eva werd Órlaith via een watergeboorte ter wereld geholpen (hopelijk zal ze net zo’n waterrat worden als haar grote zus) in Craigavon Hospital, Noord Ierland. Eva kwam gister langs in het ziekenhuis om Órlaith te bewonderen. Ze was erg van haar onder de indruk; haar zusje lijkt vooral op haar favoriete pop, alleen ietsje groter. Ze vond het erg leuk om Órlaith kusjes te geven en haar nieuwe doktorsspeelgoed op haar uit te proberen. Paul’s moeder past momenteel op Eva waneer Paul naar het ziekenhuis gaat; Ellen en Órlaith hopen op vrijdag thuis te komen; net op tijd voor onze eerste Nederlandse gasten!
