Eva at play school

January has started off with few major events, other than Eva’s entry into play school. Her two little buddies Maya and Marlie have already been going for a while, but we felt we should wait until Eva was 1 ½ year old and really ready.

The school she attends for two mornings per week is called Dik Dik (after one of the smallest species of antelope that you can find in Tanzania) and Eva absolutely loves it. It’s a very relaxed place, with 100% emphasis on play for the little ones. Eva goes with Elisabeth, our nanny, who can keep an eye on her while she’s there. Once Eva’s a bit bigger she will start going more often, and by herself.

Most lunchtimes, when mummy collects Eva and Elisabeth, we have a terribly hard time prising Eva away from the cars and tricycles that are parked near the gate. Eva’s singing has come on loads; she now goes around the house singing the first line (usually the only line she knows) of all her favourite songs; ‘ba ba black sheep’ and ‘twinkle twinkle little star’! It’s still too early to say whether she’s inherited her mother’s singing talents or whether she may have escaped absolute tone-deafness…
