The beach

After two rainy summers in Ireland, in which we rarely made it to the beach, the weather has been amazing this year (since it stopped freezing around May) and we’ve been going regularly. The most beautiful places nearby we’ve found are the beaches in County Clare. We even spotted dolphins jumping in the waves just off the coast some weeks ago at Spanish Point.

The kids all love the beach, although the sand does pose its challenges; it took Finn a while to work out what to do with it, while Orla often ends up covered in it- and pulling funny faces!

Strand

De eerste twee jaar sinds we hier wonen was het zomerweer verschikkelijk en hebben we nauwelijks de kans gehad om naar het strand te gaan. Dit jaar is het al sinds mei droog en zonnig en zijn we de laatste paar maanden regelmatig naar het strand geweest. De mooiste stranden zijn aan de Atlantische kust in County Clare. Een paar weken geleden zagen we zelfs dolfijnen die in de golven aan het springen waren.

De kinderen vinden het strand fantastisch, al vinden ze het zand niet altijd even handig; Finn wist eerst niet zo goed wat hij er mee aan moest, terwijl Orla er meestal helemaal onder zit- en graag voor de foto een raar gezicht trekt.
