More photos with our visitors

Pagde and Goose have already settled back into the build up for Christmas in Monaghan (no doubt showing their sun tans off to all the neighbours), but we still have a few photos from their trip to share with you. The second week they were here we went to Zanzibar, that famous island off the coast, 15 minutes flights from Dar. Taking about flying; Pagde proved a fantastic co-pilot, sitting beside the pilot on the way out and back, and he did all the right things to keep the plane steady all the way!

The first day we browsed the little shops of Stonetown, the main town of the island, and had lunch by the sea. The following day we went on a spice tour, seeing how the spices that Zanzibar is famous for are grown. We were shown clove trees, pepper vines, vanilla pods, etc etc. A spice farm worker cut a brilliant pair of sunglasses out of a banana leaf; they were designed to fit Eva's granddad, but looked pretty good on her too!

After that we went to the south-west of the island, where we stayed at Breezes, a lovely hotel on the beach. They had a great swimming pool that was enjoyed by all of us, as you can see...

Eva's opa en oma zijn veilig thuis aangekomen en zijn daar nu alweer een week of wat, maar wij hebben nog wat foto's van hun verblijf in Tanzania. De tweede week dat ze hier waren zijn we naar Zanzibar geweest. Het beroemde eiland ligt vlak voor de kust bij Dar es Salaam, en het is maar 15 minutes vliegen voordat je er bent. Paul's vader was op de heen- en terugvlucht de co-piloot en hij deed het heel goed.

De eerste dag hebben we alle kleine winkeltjes bekeken in de hoofdstad van het eiland Stonetown. We hebben ook heerlijk aan de water gegeten. De tweede dag zijn we op een spice tour gegaan, om te zien hoe kruiden en specerijen in Zanzibar verbouwd worden. We zagen kruidnagel bomen, en klimplanten waar peper en vanille aan groeien. Een van de plantage medewerkers heeft voor Paul's vader een zonnebril uit een stuk bananenblad gesneden. Hij stond ook erg leuk bij Eva!

Als laatste zijn we naar de zuid/oost kust gegaan en daar hebben we paar nachtjes doorgebracht in het prachtige hotel Breezes. Het stond aan het strand en had ook een heel groot zwembad, waar we met zijn allen van hebben genoten.
