Easter Guests, Easter Eggs

There’s nothing like having old friends over to visit! We look back with fond memories on our time in Tanzania that we shared with Indra and Tomas. We had many a fun night out, mornings at the yacht club and weekends away… now that we all live in Europe, we were delighted that they took the chance to come and visit us.

While our kids are maybe a little too young te really remember one-another, it took them no longer than a few minutes to re-ignite their friendships. Eva remarked on the fact that our visitors were just perfect, because each member of our family had a guest of his or her own age to play with.

Finn and Anne took maybe a little longer to team up, but they did eventually have a few games of ‘copying what the other does’, as all 2-year-olds do. Eva, Simon, Orla and Oskar barely paused for breath, for the whole four days of running, climbing, cycling, messing about…

Indra and Tomas’ visit started with the ‘hottest April day on record’, we didn’t move out of the garden and ended up moving the outside table ‘Tanzania-style’, into the shade of one of the trees! We even got the paddling pool out that day!

The rest of the visit was less tropical, but nice nevertheless; we had a day on the beach at Lahinch and a visit to the Cliffs of Moher, we also had a cruise on Loch Derg, and a stroll around lovely Killaloe, not far from us. We finished off with an Easter egg hunt, always a winner…

Paasgasten en Paaseitjes



Het is altijd heerlijk om ‘oude’ vrienden op bezoek te hebben. We hebben zoveel goede herrinderingen als we denken aan de tijd die we samen met Indra en Tomas in tanzania hebben doorgebracht. Gezellige avondjes uit, ochtenden op het strand van de yacht club, en weekendjes weg met zijn alles.

Nu we allemaal weer in Europa wonen, wonen we niet zo heel ver bij elkaar vandaan, en we waren daarom ook erg blij dat Indra en Tomas met Paasen de kans namen om ons te komen bezoeken.

Het is moeilijk om in te schatten of de kinderen elkaar nog kenden uit Tanzania, maar het duurde niet meer dan een paar minuten voordat ze weer beste vrienden waren. Het waren de perfecte gasten voor ons, vond Eva, want ieder Sherlock-kind had een gast van zijn of haar eigen leeftijd om mee te spelen.

Het duurde voor de kleintjes van langer om over hun verlegenheid heen te komen, maar Eva, Simon, Orla en Oskar klickten meteen en hebben geen minuut de tijd genomen om te pauzeren, ze waren zo druk bezig met rennen, klimmen, tickertje, fietsen en dollen.
